The No. 68 Rifle Grenade was intended as a rifle launched anti-tank grenade, that was fitted with a shape-charge warhead designed to fire a molten jet of metal into the armour of a tank. The Grenade was fired from a ‘cup’ attachment which was mounted onto the muzzle of a standard .303 SMLE rifle. It was also fired from the Northover Projector by the Home Guard.
